You know, I was walking to the University yesterday and you know, over here in Australia, there are fancy cars at every corner, and something occurred to me. I actually FORGOT that I could drive!
I know! It's ironic isn't it? I guess after doing so much walking and seeing so many cars go by everyday, you kind of miss the feeling of being behind the wheel of your own car. Ah, dear Beebo I miss you so. I bet you're sitting at home, parked outside right now all lonely.. *deep sigh*
I have to admit, I do miss driving a lot.

Star Trek Review
Okay I haven't done one of these reviews in a while, but I figured that due to the occasion, a review would be fitting. Do not worry, there will be no spoilers.
A big thanks to Catherine and Varsha for winning the tickets to the screening of the "mystery movie". It was so exclusive that we didn't know what movie it was going to be until it actually started. There was even a speech before the movie! How epic is that!?
Last night, myself along with some of my friends were among a lucky few be a part of the 'FIRST IN THE WORLD' screening of the upcoming movie, Star Trek.
Now, I'll be completely honest and say that I have never in my life watched an episode of Star Trek. It had always been one of those shows on Tv that just looked so silly, especially with the cheap-looking animation and the cast that well.. isn't really on the youthful side. I actually entered the cinema hoping for the new 'X-Men' to be screened. So you know that this review is based from the point of a non-Star Trek fan who felt slightly let down when he found out that he had to sit through 2 hours of Star Trek.
On to the review! After the first few minutes of the movie, I was honestly very excited to find out what happens next and the way they played out the story was cool as well. They didn't leave a non-Star Trek fan like me stranded there guessing who is this guy or who is that guy and how did he end up there and all that.
Animation-wise, it was amazing. Very different from the 'toy-like' spaceships that you see on the Tv show. What you get here is full-fledged, high definition CGI animation. So yeah, what you get is a very realistic picture.
There were even funny moments so it wasn't just flat serious all the way like one might expect from a show that mostly involves flying around in the vastness of space.
However, the thing that really captured me about the movie was the fact that it managed to sell itself to non-Star Trek fans! Never would I thought that I'd actually say I'd enjoy a Star Trek film. I'd bet there are some people walking out of that cinema and heading home to google up Star Trek's history and all (not me by the way. haha). A die-hard Star Trek fan might feel otherwise though. Anyway, I think this movie is deserved of the rating.
Movie rating:
3 and a half out of 5

Highlights!
My bandwidth just came back in full throttle. It took a while to pick up speed but I am SO GLAD it finally did. No really. I am very glad I don't have to take those cold walks to Uni at night just to get my homework or load up American Idol (which in fact, I just watched the latest episode of) NICE! *fingers crossed that Matt Giraud makes it through to the next round after the incident last week*
Oh by the way, people who refuse to watch American Idol with the lame excuse that American Idol has lost its talent some seasons ago are idiots and have no idea what they're talking about. (I know people who say stuff like that) *cough cough*
Anyway! On to some happening events that have taken place since my last update. Here are some pictures from the white-water rafting trip that I went for with Su Yi and other fellow Malaysians from UNSW and UTS. It was AWE-SOME. No kidding. Way more fun than I expected it to be. Well, we could've done without the extremely chilly weather, cold, strong winds and all.
COLD.

COLD.Despite the cold, we were all still pretty excited to jump on a raft and brave the EASY-looking rapids. Yeah from up above, the waters look so calm and harmless. At one point I even went "IS THAT ALL WE'RE GOING TO BE UP AGAINST?". Boy was I going to regret saying that.
I mean just look at the place, it's so calm and tranquil isn't it?

And just when we got onto our rafts, full of spirit and excitement... it started to rain! And the winds blew stronger and stronger. And it started getting so cold that we were shivering to the bone. And before you knew it... OOPS! Nick's the first one on the raft to get thrown over =D
Even after getting thrown overboard a couple of times, taking in mouthfuls of water, and shivering in the cold, that was one damn good experience that I definitely would want to go back and give another go. Ahh =)
It's nice to know that after taking these little gambles in life that it pays off in the end. You get that nice satisfying feeling inside afterwards. Wouldn't you all agree with me?

An Upside-down Life
Since the Easter holiday is coming to a close, I thought I'd put up a post about my favourite part of Easter this year.Without hesitation, that would have to be HANDS DOWN, the Hillsongs Easter services at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
The service was really THAT GOOD. Full of emotion, and heart-felt moments, even with the hundreds of people there that day. I'm sure everyone felt the Holy Spirit flow through them. I know I did. It was so good that I even went for two of the services that day.
We live an upside-down life.
We don't work hard each day in hopes that we can be accepted by God,
We strive hard each day because WE KNOW that God has already accepted us.

We strive hard each day because WE KNOW that God has already accepted us.

CARNAVALE at Space NightClub
An outing that was not-so-much of the Nick-sort.
You know before we left, Michelle asked me, "eh Nick, this is odd, why do you want to go to an event in a club?" and Nick said, "well, it's a Malaysian event so it's going to be a good chance to socialize with people don'tcha think?".
Later at the club..
*The music goes THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP*
Michelle says "SO IS THIS YOUR IDEA OF SOCIALIZING!?"
Nick goes "WHAT? WHAT? WHAT?"
BIG FAIL. Big fail indeed. The whole evening wasn't a total flop. I actually had quite a decent bit of fun there. I guess it has something to do with the company you have there. The few people from Taylor's College Subang Jaya who are here got to meet each other.
Nick actually danced! Cheh-wa! This was also the first time I've actually stayed up so late during my time here in Sydney. Well, all-in-all it was still not-my-kind-of-scene but these kinds of things are fun every once in a while I guess.

The Sydney Easter Show
The Easter weekend has just came to an end. And what a packed-fun-filled weekend it was! Funny thing was that the sun was shining down brightly over those few days. And now as the weekend comes to a close, the cold weather's back and it's raining heavily outside now. Pretty cool eh? Ah, one of the nice things about being in Sydney is that Easter is treated like a fun-festival kind of thing. We've even got the whole week off! How cool is that?
And the Easter Show is one of the many events that take place over the Easter week. It's basically a carnival thing that is celebrated at Olympic park. Well, it took me a while to realize that. I thought I was supposed to meet up with the gang at 7pm instead of 7am. Yeah, I'm awesome aren't I? Hahaha. Can you blame me? I thought it was going to be an actual "SHOW"! The whole thing was quite enjoyable. But yeah, it was an expensive day out though. But one made a whole lot more fun with Michelle here over the weekend!
Yeap! My dear friend Michelle from back home who's studying up in Newcastle came over for the weekend to spend Easter with me =D how nice of her right? But you know what really made it such a fun experience? This was the first time here in Sydney that I've actually felt like I could just be myself. You know, not act so shy to do things and just let the "inner Nick" inside of me run free. I don't know if any of you remember, but in one of my previous posts I talked about certain catalysts in my life. Yeah =) I'm feeling the effects again. Thank you Michelle!
Anyway! Let's move back to the topic of the Easter Show! I shall try to summarize it as briefly as I can and I shall let the pictures do the rest of the talking. So here's what took place at the Easter Show:

Ah.. the fireworks were lovely.. aside from the fact that the logo of the main sponsor of the event, 'Dairy Farmers' kept appearing in the laser lights every few seconds in the middle of the fireworks display.
I shall end this post with something that you guys may find amusing. We fought hard to get the seats to watch this okay! Pigs.. that run.. and dive into a tub of water! (okay they didn't really dive. It was more like, pigs walking on a plank and tripping over the edge and falling into the water) But it sure was funny =D

- I saw cows that were actually black and white! Like those on the Milk ads! They really do exist!
- There are horses that are short and stumpy-looking.
- I had my first "Corn-dog"! Just like the ones you see in the movies!
- After riding three decently-scary rides, I've come to the conclusion that the ferris wheel is the most terrifying of them all. No kidding.. no I'm not. Really.
- People get aggressive when they miss the show called "Racing and Diving Pigs". Eh really one you know.
- Fireworks are pretty and make me wish I were watching it with "that certain someone-someone" ;)

Internet Woes
Ah yet another lagging stream of updates from Step-Over. However, this time it's not because I have nothing much to blog about. Here in Australia we face this certain problem that isn't much of an issue back home. Two words. Bandwidth control.
The internet here, much like the mobile phone services is a pretty complex thing. Sometimes a little messed up I'd say. We get certain amounts of bandwidths at certain times of the day. More during off-peak hours and less at those times you DO want to use the internet. Hahaha. I'm not really complaining so much because for what it lacks in capacity, it gives back in high download speed. Which is cool.
But the fact remains that all my bandwidth for this month has been used up and I have to wait til the 18th of this month for it to be reset. Which is not totally a bad thing because it gives me more time to try to sort out my studies (CHEH-WA).
Anyway! Enough of this ranting about the internet (AAAAAA!!! I WON'T HAVE INTERNET AT HOME THROUGHOUT MY WHOLE EASTER BREAK!!)... haha my main reason for putting up this short post is just to drop a note to all of you readers to let you guys back home know that you're all being thought of and missed.
I was about to upload some pictures of me with all my friend's back home but I thought that it would bring out the inner emo-ness in all of you guys. So I shall leave it up to you to think about those images that YOU think would fit in here =)
I know I have a few on my mind.
ps: I'm reading all of your blogs, so keep the updates coming!

David Archuleta Live in KL
Of all the times for me to be away from home. Why now? Hahaha. I was just reading through Shaun's blog a while ago when I came across one of his posts saying that David Archuleta is going to be putting on a show in KL! Of all the places in the world right? And I just HAVE to be away! You know, I'm not really the kind of guy who would be into big massive concerts and stuff, but given the chance, I would love to be there. Hahaha.
David Cook conquered the stage during American Idol but I think he failed to live up to all the hype he got when his debut album came out which in my honest opinion, was very weak. Archuleta however, really rose and shined right after his hits conquered the music charts. So you can see why I wanna go.
Anyway, here's some information about the concert if you guys don't already know about it.

Knowing me, knowing you
As most of you would probably know, me ending up in Sydney wasn't really what I had expected or predicted. It was one of those decisions where I just threw caution into the wind and thought I'd take the 'gamble' and see where I'd end up. Okay maybe it's not THAT dramatic but hey, I didn't expect to go somewhere where NONE of my close friends would be going to. And that precisely brings about the reason I'm putting up this blog post. To put it in simple terms, this is going to be a post about a certain group of people with enough EGO to put Cristiano Ronaldo to shame!
Like most communities, including the typical Malaysian one, you have that friendly, nice group of people and of course, that certain group of individuals that you just wouldn't want to mingle with. That's something I can accept. Hahaha, I guess no matter which part of the world you're in, you're always going to find some rotten apples. I can live with that!
I will get straight to the point and say that what DOES bother me however, are people who are NOT open to the opinions of others. Words that I could use to describe them would be:
Yeah, I would most probably think that there are some images of certain people popping up in your heads right now.
So you DO know what I mean =) very nice.
