Brief Update

Hello readers! Just posting this to fill you guys in about the week's happenings.
As you may have noticed, I haven't really been blogging as much. Maybe I'm starting to lose that blogging touch. Oh well, I really appreciate all of you checking in for updates. So what's new?

The Biology Common Test 3 is tomorrow and I'm pretty nervous about that. Biology has a weird way of surprising us when we're overconfident about it. Oh I also realized that my blog is lacking some "real life" pictures. And thus I shall start taking pictures of random objects again. Oh but there's also the fact that my sister is very protective over the family camera. Well, I guess she's just going through that "I'M TOO COOL FOR YOU OR ANYONE ELSE" phase of her teenage life. It sometimes shocks me that my sister is growing up so quickly. By the way, I still haven't come to terms over the fact that she likes boys. BOYS i say.

Oh there's also been a couple of birthdays that have just passed. Ah the joy of witnessing the the birth of Christmas holiday babies. Let's see, it was Henri's Birthday first on the 21st of July, then it was Lee Jing's on the 23rd, and my best pal in high school, Nikkil a/l Gogulanathan =D on the 24th!

Somehow I really like this picture. It signifies the happiness between two best friends who constantly make fun and insult each other on a daily basis. That's Henri and Teck Juan. The Timon and Pumba of G11.

This is Henri's little surprise birthday celebration. It was cool because we didn't expect a big "Happy Birthday" banner to be spread out behind us but oh well. It added to the birthday athmosphere.

This is Henri who's about to dive into the pool of creamy goodness like the swimmer boy he is.

This was during the surprise birthday celebration for G11's very own "CINA GIRL", Ms. Ang Lee Jing.

This would be a big part of the G11.

And this would be Nikkil, one of my best friends throughout the harshness of high school life in SMK Bandar Utama.

P.S: I have been having a craving for a Large Caesar Salad at Friendster Cafe for the past three weeks. You know, the one with loads of lettuce covered in just the right amount of savoury, creamy mayonaise. Then there would be little croutons and shredded cheese all over the salad. And right in the center of the plate, there's this little basket..made out of MOZARELLA CHEESE! and in the basket, there's this stack of thin slices of smoked salmon...My mouth just flooded with saliva.

This picture just don't do no justice...

Relationships

I've been inspired by a few special people in my life to write this. If it applies to you, then yeah, you're one of those people.

It's just something I want to say about relationships. Okay I bet some of you think that oh no, Nick is gonna write about some emo mushy mushy lovey dovey thing and I should just close this window now, but wait, lend me some of your time. It's something about relationships, not only with your significant other, but also your friends, and even your parents.

A friend of mine once taught me one of the most important lesson that applies to all relationships. A relationship is not about showering the other with the most expensive gifts that money can buy, or hanging out so much that you're all bored of one another. It's always the little things that matter, and with that, it is most definitely true when I say that the true meaning of a relationship is that it is all about reminding each other that you're there for them and how you feel about them.

This doesn't only apply to love birds out there. Think about it, isn't it true if you apply it to your relationship with your friends or your parents as well. How many of you can safely say that you have a special bond or relationship with your parents? As for me, I wouldn't say that I have the strongest bond ever, but I'm working on it. Trying to talk to my parents more and let them know about how I'm doing and what are some of the problems that I'm facing. Hey, they may not see things the way us "young people" do, but that's why we have to talk to them, teach them, and I think with that, our parents would have more trust towards us. We have to look at it from their point of view, they've never been parents before and maybe it's best that we make things a little easier for them. A simple "Hi mummy and Hi daddy" each time we arrive home would be enough, rather than dashing upstairs to our rooms and locking ourselves out.

As for a lovey wuvvy relationship, I think you readers get the idea. Even if you and your significant other do not really get to see each other everyday, or spend the most time with one another, a simple reminder to each other now and then would most definitely put a smile on the other's face =) I know it works on me. And I bet it does on you too.

And not forgetting, the most important, and essential relationship of all, our relationship with God. Regardless of what religion we are, I think this is the relationship that we all find hardest to keep strong. I mean, there are times where earthly things cloud our judgment and jeopardize our relationship with God. I for one, am no exception. But a reminder to God, a simple prayer each day would definitely remind ourselves that we know where our faith lies, we know that regardless of what we're going through here on earth, we place everything we have, our trust, and our hope, all in God's hands.

I know I may sound like I'm preaching, but ignore this if this doesn't apply to you. Well, you'd probably be a robot if it doesn't. Anyway, I just wanted to voice out some of my thoughts about something that I really believe in.

The Dark Knight

Okay I normally don't do movie reviews here on Step-Over, but I've just watched The Dark Knight yesterday, and the only thing I was left to say was WOW. The movie most definitely did not disappoint all Batman fans out there. I for one was left in awe with all the cool scenes and trademark one-liners. The best thing is that it wasn't one of those superhero movies where the superhero just beats the living daylights out of the villians. Instead, Batman portrayed his arch nemesis, The Joker, as the hilarious, sarcastic, and yet, sinister evil villian that he is, perfectly on screen. Heath Ledger's character lived up to my expectation as being the BEST SUPERVILLIAN of all time! But well, the same cannot be said about the second, "secret" villian in this movie, Harvey Two-Face. He definitely wasn't as evil and menacing as he was in the comic books. Oh well, they portrayed his good side perfectly though, but we always want a better bad guy don't we? One of the let-downs in the movie would be the new girl they casted as Rachel Dawes, Bruce Wayne's love interest. Wouldn't you all agree that Maggie Gyllenhal looks a wee-bit like a distorted Kirsten Dunst? Overall, Batman: The Dark Knight pwns all superhero movies.

The Bat-Pod is the coolest thing after the Tumbler (which I'm upset over the fact that it got trashed in the movie)

The Joker, a class act and the best supervillian of all time.

Apart from the movie, it was still an amazing evening. Let's just say nothing has ever come this close to perfect and it's just one of those things that I can think back about and just put on a silly smile =)

Tagged

Nick has just been tagged by Natalie Ang Sue Li. Shall we begin? Oh by the way, why do the tags that are going around these days seem so familiar? Anyway, let us begin!

1. At what age do you wish to marry?
I'm gonna live life with each passing day and bask in the joy of each moment so all is uncertain. But it's always nice to be a young parent. Not exactly young YOUNG. I mean late twenties or so?

2. Will you consider sexual relationships before marriage?
Nick does not smoke.
Nick does not do drugs.
Nick does not drink alcohol excessively.
Nick does not have sex before marriage.

Never have and never will. Oh and Shisha is no exception because I think people who smoke Shisha and say they don't smoke, are dumb.

4. What is the latest gadget that you own?
Well, considering the fact that I have never bought any new gadget since my handphone, it would be my Nokia N73 that I got two years ago (which is dying. I need a new phone)

Natalie Ang Sue Li =D

6. How old are you and are you a virgin?

Wow, this may sound crazy. But I always dreamed of having a wedding ceremony outdoors. Like those romantic ones with the romantic scenery and all.

10. How old do you think you'll be permanently owned by love?
I don't know. I don't want to be owned by love, I want to love and be loved =) does that make sense?

11. How many kids do you want?
I've always thought of having a son and a daughter. So I'm gonna say two. Twins would be nice =D

12. Where was the last restaurant you had dinner in?
The place where they shout gibberish in your face and sing nonsensical songs, TGI Fridays =D with Natalie, Shaun, and Melissa.

Europe! =D

Hugging while kissing. OOO..

21. Single or attatched?
I think it is safe to say that I am happy and taken and attached to someone amazing.

Natalie Ang Sue Li is:
- amazing
- clumsy (at times)
- adorable
- emotional
- the girl I'm in love with

I tag: Whoever who hasn't done this tag before =D (seriously, I will check your blogs)

Cheer 2008

It's been a while since my last update and I sincerely apologise for you readers who have been taking the trouble to type my blog link out so many times but only to be greeted with the same old boring page.

Work is slowly starting to come in as this second semester unfolds and there hasn't been anything out of the ordinary that's been happening of late. The days just seem to fly by so quickly when only you wished you could stop to catch your breath. And yeah, the thing about it is that when you want time to fly by quickly, it just ticks at its petty pace and if you want things to slow down so you can seize the moment, it all just flashes by and before you know it, hello Monday!

On Sunday, Nat and I headed over to the Bukit Jalil Indoor Arena to catch Cheer 2008. Yes your eyes do not deceive you. I went to watch Cheer =D LOL. Not the kind of place you'd imagine me to be, but hey, I have to admit I had a pretty good time over there. NO, it wasn't because I got to watch girls jump around and get thrown into the air over and over. LOL you pervs! I wonder why the young people come out in the thousands to catch an event where girls play a sport. But when guys do their thing, we've barely got anyone cheering us on XD oh well, girls will be girls. But hey, I actually had a pretty good time. With the company of Nat who had the patience to slowly explain the name of each move and how difficult it is to do it. I could only sit there and blurt out stuff like "eh look! a human jump rope =D!"

berbanyak-banyak orang
In a crowd of Blue Blitzerz fans, I wore a blue Superman shirt. LOL.

Nat and Nic!
The two most tightly knit sisters that I know.

Nat and another Nick =D
after a long day of 42 cheer performances on the LRT on the way home.

That's it for this short post. Gonna be updating more often from now on. The thoughts are starting to flow again and yeah, I'll be back blogging full-throttle in no time. Anyway, I'm gonna catch Batman: The Dark Knight tomorrow and I'm psyched! My only concern would be whether I'll be able to sleep tonight with all the suspense *joker laugh* (which I think no one can imitate better than Shaun =D) Goodnight readers!

B is for Batman

Gross Domestic Product! 3.7! Inflation Rate! 4.2! The Microeconomic Reform!

I'm really glad that the Economics Common Test III is finally over. I've been working on it since last week and it was based on this assignment that we were given where we had to dig up and research on the current economic situation in the land down under. It was very tough indeed because we didn't even know where to start! But anyway, it's all over now, and I was slightly bummed the other day because I kinda didn't have enough time to finish the Essay. 3 pages in forty five minutes, and still not enough time..

Oh speaking of economics, here's a little something that has become the number one topic of conversation of "uncles", "aunties", and well, those few college students who want to act all grown up and sophisticated who start talking about economics. The "hoo-ha" causing, petrol hike. And well, Beebo, being a 2.2cc car, has a huge tummy and guzzles down a hundred and fifty ringlets worth of petrol each time I pump X) that's insane!

This is one of favourite random questions to just shoot and friends or family members, "Who is your favourite superhero of all time?" I have a strong feeling that most of you out there would immediately say Spiderman. I don't blame you, the Spiderman movies have made him into something really cool, winning the hearts of little rempit boys all over Malaysia.

However, Spiderman's not for me though. I would say my all-time favourite superhero would be none other than the one and only, Batman!

POW! WHAM! BAM!

I remember as a little boy (which I still am), I used to get up really early every Saturday morning without fail because the latest episode of Batman: The Animated Series would be showing on Tv3. Hey I didn't have Astro back then XD but I always thought he was the coolest superhero ever! He'd have his cool utility belt with them grappling hooks that could cling on to ANYTHING! And not forgetting, the "Batarang"! I mean, what's cooler than a metal boomerang in the shape of a bat that for some reason, he doesn't just throw at the bad guys and cause some serious damage on them or something? And the best part is, he doesn't have any superpowers and doesn't have to be bitten by radioactive animals or something (LOL I'm imagining a radioactive bat. LOL).

So what's will all the hype about Batman? The whole world probably knows by now that the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight will be premiering worldwide on the 18th of July and I just cannot wait! I've been counting down the days. With all the hype and excitement about the movie, I decided to search for Batman related stuff on YouTube and look what I found!

"It's not who I am. It's what I do that defines me."
-Batman (Batman Begins)-

I don't know about you, but it kind of reminds me about a certain something I wrote on my earlier post, Rhapsodies. Anyway, I'm hoping to catch the premiere on the 18th with a certain someone *keeps fingers crossed* =)

13 days til the Premiere of The Dark Knight

Hair Woes

As the title has stated, this post is going to be about HAIR. To be specific, MY HAIR. Now for everyone that has seen my hair up close, they would realize that I have a THICK SHAGGY MANE. Whoa whoa, to all you dirty minded dudes, and dudettes, I'm referring to the hair on my head thank you very much.

Anyway, my hair is seriously THICK! It is the most difficult kind of hair for any hairstylist to handle. Seriously. I shall quote my hair stylist, "Wah, I've thinned it so much and it still looks exactly the same!" So last weekend, I felt my hair was getting a little too long, THICK, and not to mention, out of control. At the salon, my hair stylist (I think that's what you call the person who does your hair. Or is it a barber?) was telling me about how damaged my hair was. I was wondering to myself, "how could this be?" I mean, I've not been using excessive hair products, neither have I ever coloured, straightened, or done any form of hair treatment to my thick shaggy mane. As Shaun and Mike would describe it, I have "Virgin Hair".

This is me shedding hair.

So why have I decided to write a very much random post about hair all of a sudden? Well, right now my hair's relatively short and I think it looks a little weird. Judging by some other individuals' opinions, they say it's pretty funny-looking as well. Me being the "thick-skinned" person that I am, would usually be oblivious to what other people think about me, but somehow, the whole bad-hair thing just puts a deep dent in my self-esteem for some reason. *sigh* I just had to let that out.
